FAQs

How Do I Keep The Water Clean And Safe To Use?
The Glacial Dip™ includes a 1,249 L/h filter pump to help keep water crystal clear. For longer-lasting water quality, we recommend treating your water with chlorine tablets in a floating dispenser and regularly checking your chemical levels.
See our full range of ice baths and water care solutions in the Ice Bath Collection.

Do I Need To Use Chemicals In The Ice Bath?
While optional, water treatment is highly recommended. If you don’t use chemicals, you’ll need to change the water every 3 days. If you do treat the water, maintain the following:
Total Alkalinity: 80–120 ppm
pH: 7.4–7.6
Calcium Hardness: 200–400 ppm
Cyanuric Acid: 30–50 ppm
Free Chlorine: 2.0–4.0 ppm
Order replacement filters as needed: Chill Tubs Ice Bath Filter.

How Often Should I Change Or Clean The Water?
Without chemical treatment, change the water every 3 days. With proper chemical balance and filtration, you can extend this to up to 3 months. Regularly skim the surface and rinse filters every few uses, replacing them every 2 weeks.
For filter sets and accessories: Icetubs Barrel and Ice Bath Filter Set.

What Daily/Weekly Maintenance Is Required?
Always run the filter pump between uses.
Rinse your feet in a foot bath and shower before getting in.
Remove leaves/debris with a skimmer net.
Monitor and balance chemical levels.
Use liquid pH/alkalinity balancers if needed.

Can I Use This Ice Bath All Year Round?
Yes! Its Polar-Shield™ lining remains flexible even in cold weather, and the reinforced cover helps retain cool temperatures between uses.

Is It Big Enough For Two People?
Yes, it’s been designed with enough space to comfortably accommodate two adults with a total water capacity of 420L.

How Long Does Setup Take?
The Glacial Dip™ inflates in under 5 minutes using the included hand pump. One person can set it up easily without any tools or extra equipment.

How Do I Make The Water Cold?
UK tap water is on average around 15°C (the highest temperature needed for cold plunges). In late Autumn, Winter and Early spring, you may not need to do anything to cool your ice bath water. To make your ice bath water colder you can use bags of ice, ice packs or 2L bottles filled with water and frozen over night.

How Should I Use The Ice Bath?
The ideal temperature for cold plunges is 10°C-15°C. Start cold plunges gradually and only spend 1-2 minutes in the water. Gently lower your body into the water but do not submerge your head under the water - to avoid cold shock. Once you become used to cold plunges, only use the ice bath for a maximum of 10-15 minutes at a time.
